"L is White and Nerdy" is a meme on the SiIvaGunner channel. It refers to rips featuring both "White and Nerdy" by "Weird Al" Yankovic and Death Note.
Background
The sources involved are based around various Death Note AMVs set to "White & Nerdy" by "Weird Al" Yankovic (a parody of "Ridin'" by Chamillionaire ft. Krayzie Bone) that were uploaded around early YouTube. Most of the AMVs typically used L or Light Yagami as the character referred to as "White & Nerdy".
Rips
"L is White and Nerdy" is heavily associated with Death Note: Kira Game, with all rips featuring "White & Nerdy" and using the mix name "OST Version". The game has been ripped throughout Season 9, starting with the rip "Cutscene (OST Version) - Death Note: Kira Game" on March 24, 2025.
Both "White & Nerdy" and Death Note have had a handful of appearances prior to the first appearance of "L is White and Nerdy", though never with them together. "White & Nerdy"'s first appearance was with the rip "Discussion -MIX- (TOURNAMENT Version) - SiIvaGunner: King for Another Day", while the first appearance of Death Note was with the rip "Sophie - Cory in the House". Death Note's main appearance was also primary with "Light's Theme".
The first appearence of "L is White and Nerdy" was through a minor appearance in the rip "Tsurupettan - Umineko no Naku Koro ni Saku ~Nekobako to Musou no Koukyoukyoku~", with a clip of "L is White and Nerdy" by Lady Akuma being used. However it wouldn't be until the rip "Cutscene (OST Version) - Death Note: Kira Game" that saw the first main appearance of the meme.
Most appearances of the meme outside rips of Death Note: Kira Game typically have "White & Nerdy" arranged to the advertised track, while clips from episodes of Death Note are used throughout, primarily the "Bakayaroid" fad and Kira's laugh. A few rips would also use actual "L is White and Nerdy" AMVs, usually when there isn't a use of clips from Death Note.
