The Google Screaming Ad is an infamous advertisement campaign by Google in 2016. It is also a meme on the SiIvaGunner channel.

Summary

The campaign had multiple ads featuring a random GIF set to an unidentified loud electric song with a prominent screaming sample. The ad would be hated quickly, with many seeing it as a way for Google to be "hip and trendy". There were at least 8 versions of the ad, which were all uploaded on October 31, 2016 with the name format "Google Search: ___ nearby".[1] The ad's full slogan is "know what's nearby".

The ad would be used in a small genre of memes and parodies where people would remake the ad with different GIFs, or replace the song that plays in it with another loud song.

The most well-known version of the ad is "Google Search: ice cream nearby", in which the GIF featured is of a baby getting ice cream. This version of the ad is commonly used as the example of the original ad on webpages documenting the parodies of the ad.

Rips

The ad was first referenced in the rips "Chapter Results - Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc" and "SpongeBob's Dream - SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom" from around the time that the ads were running. Both of these rips are parodies of the ad itself, similar to other memes about them that were popular at the time. After these 2 rips, the source wouldn't see more use until Season 8.

Starting with "Cowboy (OST Version) - Plok" (February 8, 2024), the song featured in the ad would begin appearing frequently as a mashup source, typically pitch-shifting the scream to the melody of the rip. After the release of "Emote: Scenario (Stadia Version) - Fortnite" (June 19, 2024), the source would completely disappear for a few months. This was referenced when the source returned in the rip "Kirby's Triumphant Return (OST Version) - Kirby Super Star" (October 9, 2024). After the release of this rip, the source was used frequently again. Many of the rips referencing the ad are by minindo.
